Dale West was 40 when he died after leaving the 127 Club in Meridian during the night of April 18–19, 2014. A brawl involving a belligerent patron and members of a motorcycle group broke out on the crowded dance floor between about 1 and 2 a.m.; West stepped in with bouncers to help break it up, then left the bar and drove to a friend’s home in Boise. There he complained of a pounding headache, lay down on a couch, and never woke up. The Ada County Coroner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and linked his collapse to the earlier violence in the club.
Detectives reconstructed the chaotic minutes as five to seven people tangled in the narrow fight and appealed for anyone who saw punches thrown or who can identify the men at the center of the melee to come forward. Early in the probe police said they had no strong suspects and initially had no video to clarify the blur of bodies; later investigators released a brief surveillance clip showing West walking to his car as an effort to jog memories. No arrests have been announced and authorities have not publicly named a suspect.
If anyone was at the 127 Club before 2 a.m. that night and remembers what happened or recognizes the men involved, please contact investigators with information.
