Fifteen-year-old Jeremy Dallas Redwine II was shot in the front bedroom of a Thomasville, North Carolina, home on May 18, 2023. Officers responding to a call around 11 a.m. found him with a gunshot wound to the head; he was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and died on May 19, 2023.
Investigators arrested a 14-year-old on May 30, 2023; the youth was initially charged with murder and later charged with second-degree murder and possession of a stolen weapon after authorities determined the firearm used had been stolen. Jeremy’s uncle William Redwine publicly urged gun owners to secure firearms and encouraged young people to report illegal possession.
The shooting prompted wider discussion in the state about rising youth firearm deaths, cited as a 120.8 percent increase from 2019 through 2021. Does anyone have information about Jeremy, the residence on Johnia Court, or the events of May 18, 2023?
