On March 6, 2023, at about 9:15 p.m., 29-year-old Raymund Alexander Graham was fatally shot in the 5600 block of Medicus Lane in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Funeral services were held on March 19, 2023, at Wiseman Mortuary Chapel in Fayetteville.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office identified and arrested two people connected to Graham’s death. On May 12, 2023, 37-year-old Zakela Vontel Oglesby of Hope Mills was charged with accessory after the fact, felony child abuse causing serious bodily injury, and obstructing justice and held on a $200,000 secured bond. In June 2023 a juvenile was served with a secure custody order for first-degree murder; the juvenile’s identity and specific involvement have not been disclosed because of legal protections. Authorities have also sought information from the public, including attempting to locate 19-year-old Skylar Stanley of Fayetteville who may have information.

Graham is survived by his parents, Reamond and Alesia Covington-Graham, his daughter Ella Mae Garner, and numerous siblings and extended family. Anyone with information that could assist the ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
