On January 24, 2023, at about 2:46 p.m., deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Samuel Williams Drive in Red Springs, North Carolina. Three people were found dead of multiple gunshot wounds: 34-year-old Sierra Nicole Wherry, her brother 51-year-old Donald Kendrick Williams, and 45-year-old family friend James Elijah Beauregard. Their 71-year-old mother, Equilla Williams-Biggs, survived with serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Authorities arrested 46-year-old Corey Grant Leak, a nephew of Williams-Biggs and cousin to Wherry and Williams, near Maxton shortly after the shootings. Investigators say an argument over money, reportedly related to drugs, escalated into the fatal attack. Leak, who had been living with his aunt, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; he had previously served nearly 27 years for a 1993 murder and was on parole at the time.

The Red Springs community held vigils and memorials for the victims, and family members, clergy, and local officials spoke of deep grief and the need for unity and support for the affected families. Does anyone have information about Sierra Nicole Wherry or the household on Samuel Williams Drive that could help investigators or the families?
