Stephen Strassburg, 37, was fatally shot on June 8, 2024, in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, after an altercation in the parking lot of Razor Reese’s Salon and Spa. Strassburg, who lived in an apartment above the salon, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Abington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just days before his 38th birthday.

The salon’s owner, 41-year-old Maurice Byrd, called 911 around 5:45 p.m. saying Strassburg was verbally assaulting him and using racial slurs. While Byrd was on the phone, witnesses heard five gunshots, a pause, then two more. Authorities recovered seven 9mm casings and a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun registered to Byrd, who held a valid permit; Strassburg was unarmed. Investigators say the men had a history of disputes, and bystander accounts describe Strassburg initiating the confrontation. Byrd was arrested and charged with first- and third-degree murder and possessing an instrument of crime and is being held without bail.
