Rebecca Anne Simmons, 66, was shot and killed in her Patton, Pennsylvania home on February 22, 2024, following an argument in which she said she planned to leave her husband of several decades, William Edward Simmons, 69. A 911 call placed at 3:15 p.m. captured Rebecca saying her husband had shot her in the back and that she was dying; a muffled gunshot was reportedly heard during the call. Court documents say William first shot Rebecca with a 12-gauge shotgun, and after she retreated and held shut the coal/furnace room door he fired a second shot through the door, fatally wounding her. William later told police he saw Rebecca on the floor with the phone beside her but did not check on her, and he called his daughter to confess.

Law enforcement took William into custody at the Grozanick Road home; an autopsy found two gunshot wounds to Rebecca’s lower torso and ruled the death a homicide. If anyone knew Rebecca or has information about what happened that afternoon, please share what you know.
