A 54-year-old man known as Harlon Scooter Webb was fatally shot in Smyrna, Tennessee, late the evening of September 4, 2024. Webb, a familiar presence at the Citgo on North Lowry Street who typically bought a pack of cigarettes and a Mountain Dew each night, was ambushed behind the store at about 11 p.m. after what police describe as an attempted robbery. Customers inside the station reportedly took cover when shots were fired. Webb was found behind the building, taken to a local hospital, and later died of his injuries.

Investigators described the attack as premeditated and planned. A juvenile and a 20-year-old man named Rocky Melton were arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. Webb’s friends and acquaintances remembered him as consistently kind and sweet-natured despite physical challenges he faced.

Anyone who knew Webb, his routines at the Citgo, or who may have seen activity in that parking lot around 11 p.m. on September 4 is asked to come forward with information.
