On the morning of July 14, 2024, employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers found the unresponsive body of a young woman on the Alta Lake Greenway in Hermitage, Tennessee. She was identified as 20-year-old Jamani Parker and had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Parker was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

The Metro Nashville Police Department’s Homicide Unit opened an investigation. Detectives focused on her boyfriend, 35-year-old Lovelle Winton-Jones, who had been arrested on July 26 on nine unrelated charges including drug possession and evading arrest and was in custody. By September, investigators presented evidence to a Davidson County grand jury. On September 26, 2024, that grand jury returned a first-degree murder indictment accusing Winton-Jones of Parker’s killing; he was served with the indictment while jailed on his prior charges.

Who in the Hermitage area knew Jamani Parker or saw her around Alta Lake Greenway in July 2024?
