Clarence Lynn Devoti, 73, was found inside his Chuckey home on Old Stage Road in the late afternoon of Thursday, March 28, 2024, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies and first responders performed CPR, but Devoti was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. Investigators identified William Justin Harrison of Afton as a suspect; Harrison was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, booked into the Greene County Detention Center with bond set at $600,000. His arraignment was scheduled for April 1, 2024. Devoti, a retired floor specialist, was described by family as a man who never met a stranger and who was always willing to help.
