Howard Elwood Jordan Jr., 35, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Arbor Place Apartments in Knoxville, Tennessee. Known to family as E.J., he was found by Knoxville Police Department officers inside an apartment unit with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified 28-year-old Jesse Bailey Jr. as the primary suspect. Two other people who were in the apartment that night told officers Bailey had also fired at them but they were not injured. Bailey fled after the shooting and was described by law enforcement as armed and dangerous; detectives obtained warrants charging him with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Following a public appeal for information, Bailey turned himself in and was taken into custody to face those charges.
Anyone who knew Howard Jordan, was in the Arbor Place Apartments that night, or has information about the shooting is asked to come forward.
