A domestic dispute in Knoxville, Tennessee turned deadly late on the night of Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Officers responded to reports of shots fired at about 11:15 p.m. at a Copeland Street residence and found 22-year-old Joseph Tanner Norris suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later died.

Knoxville Police Department investigators identified Joseph’s 18-year-old brother, Logan Norris, as the suspect. According to the investigation and witness accounts, the brothers first fought inside the home and continued the altercation on the sidewalk, where Logan allegedly produced a firearm and shot Joseph multiple times. Logan reportedly fled, discarded the weapon, and was quickly apprehended by officers; he was taken to UT Medical Center for evaluation of injuries from the fight. Authorities announced charges of second-degree murder against Logan Norris.
