On November 8, 2024, at about 5:15 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to a reported shooting at a residence on the 18800 block of Ninth Street in Bloomington, California. Inside the home they found 32-year-old Pedro Chavez deceased. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail took over the investigation.

Detectives identified the suspect as the victim’s younger brother, 25-year-old David Chavez, who was arrested at the scene and booked into the West Valley Detention Center without bail on charges of murder. Authorities have not disclosed a motive and the investigation remains ongoing.
