Jose Ramos, 39, was found dead near the railroad tracks in the 3700 block of Capitol Avenue in the City of Industry, California, on October 18, 2024. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office determined he died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest; his death has been classified as a homicide. Ramos was last seen alive on October 17, 2024, wearing blue shorts over black clothing, a multicolored jacket with blue and possibly gray and white, and a black hat.
A homeless man walking his dog discovered Ramos in the early hours of October 18. The location is known to have a significant homeless population, and it is believed Ramos may have been lured to that area by certain individuals; investigators say others were likely nearby but no one has come forward. No arrests or suspects have been publicly identified, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information to contact the Monterey Park homicide line at 890-5500.
Ramos was a father, brother, and uncle remembered for his kind nature and willingness to help others; his family is pleading with the public for help and closure. Does anyone who was in the area on October 17–18 have information that could help the investigation?
