Hi everyone. I've been thinking a lot about the community response to the tragic shooting on West Camile Street. It's been incredibly moving to see the neighborhood come together in such a supportive way for Steven Garcia's family. From what I’ve read, there’s a GoFundMe to help send Steven's body back to El Salvador, where his family wants to lay him to rest. It must be unbelievably difficult for them to bear such a loss while worrying about funeral arrangements and costs. It’s just a sobering reminder of how much these violent acts affect not just the immediate victims, but everyone connected to them. Even if we can't solve these crimes ourselves, showing our support in any way we can really does make a difference to those grieving. If you can, consider sharing or contributing to the campaign. Sending strength and love to Steven’s family and the other young victim recovering from this senseless act. Keep safe, everyone.

It's incredibly sad what happened on West Camile Street. My heart goes out to Steven Garcia's family, especially as they try to cope with this sudden loss. I noticed that the incident occurred really close to Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. It makes me wonder how the community, especially the kids and parents, are dealing with this tragic event happening so near to where they live and learn every day. It must be incredibly difficult to process, not just for the families directly involved but for everyone in the neighborhood. I hope the authorities can bring some peace to the community by finding those responsible. In the meantime, it's touching to see how people are coming together to support Steven's family during this sorrowful time. If anyone reading this has even the slightest bit of information, please consider reaching out to the police or using the anonymous tip line. Let’s hope justice is served soon.

Has anyone noticed how close the scene of the shooting was to Abraham Lincoln Elementary School? I keep thinking about how terrifying it must have been for the kids and parents in that area. School was probably either about to let out or had just let out when this all happened, which means kids could've been nearby. It's so concerning that something like this could happen in a residential neighborhood, in broad daylight no less. I'm relieved to hear that the teen will survive, but it's just awful for Steven Garcia’s family. I really hope the community comes together with information to help catch whoever did this. Anyone else feeling uneasy about safety in the area?
