On July 27, 2024, Chino Police responded to a 911 call about a shooting at a home in the 3900 block of Pepper Tree Lane. Officers found two adult men with gunshot wounds; one was taken to a local hospital after emergency surgery and listed in stable condition. The other victim, 65-year-old Haman Li, died at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting grew out of a family dispute. A 37-year-old man, Wenhua Lee, was detained at the residence without incident and later arrested and booked on charges of murder and attempted murder. Authorities have not released further specifics about what led to the shooting, and the investigation remains open.
