On July 20, 2024, 35-year-old Pooja Naidu was killed inside the A-1 Quick Stop on Lake Arrowhead Avenue in Fremont, California. According to witnesses, an argument between Naidu and her boyfriend, Krishan Sharma, escalated; Sharma chased her through the store, drew a firearm and shot her. Naidu reportedly coaxed Sharma outside and locked the front door, but he returned in a Mercedes, rammed the store entrance, shot her as she tried to climb over the hood, then exited the vehicle, stomped on her head and fired multiple additional shots, killing her.
Sharma was already out on bail after a May 2024 arrest on attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting a female neighbor in Hayward. Surveillance footage, witness interviews and physical evidence led Fremont police to identify Sharma as the primary suspect; officers located and arrested him on July 22 after a brief pursuit. He was booked on murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and held in Santa Rita Jail without bail. Authorities said prior domestic violence calls involved the couple, including a May 2024 incident and a disturbance at a Union City hotel two days before the homicide.
Anyone who knew Pooja Naidu or has information about the events leading up to July 20 is asked to come forward.
