On July 10, 2024, five members of the same family were shot to death at a home on Kitty Hawk Road in Alameda, California. Victims included 56-year-old Marta Elena Morales; her daughter, 36-year-old Brenda Natali Morales; her husband, 70-year-old Miguel Carcamo; and two young grandsons, 6-year-old William Killian and 14-month-old Wesley Killian. Miguel Carcamo was found outside the residence with gunshot wounds and told officers that his son-in-law, 54-year-old Shane Killian, was the shooter before he died. Officers detained Shane Killian at the scene and later discovered the other victims inside the home; the two boys were taken to a hospital and died of their injuries.
Shane Killian has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including five counts of murder, attempted murder, and illegal weapons possession. The Alameda County District Attorney charged him without alleging the special circumstance of multiple murders. The motive has not been determined. Neighbors and local groups have established a memorial outside the family’s home and support services are being offered to the community.
Did anyone in Alameda know the Morales or Killian families and have information that could help explain what led to this attack?
