Jonathan-David Clark, 34, was fatally shot on the evening of August 19, 2023, in the 1300 block of North L Street in Lompoc, California. According to reports, Clark was unloading groceries from his vehicle at about 10:30 p.m. when a single gunshot struck him. Responding officers, fire department personnel, and paramedics performed life-saving measures but Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses saw one person flee the area immediately after the shooting.
The Lompoc Police Department, with help from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Crime Lab, opened a homicide investigation. As of December 2024 no arrests have been made and the case remains unsolved. Clark’s family has been actively seeking answers: his uncle Les Clark started a Facebook group to raise awareness, and the family has used AI-generated videos and social media to encourage tips. Detective Sergeant Vincent Magallon said new tips have come in, some prompted by the family’s outreach, and investigators continue to follow leads.
Clark is remembered by his family and community as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Anyone with surveillance footage or information is asked to contact the Lompoc Police Department’s detective bureau.
