Ronnie Frazier, 20, was shot and killed on May 30, 2023, in South Oroville. Officers were called just before midnight to Myers Street between B and C streets and found Frazier on the sidewalk with an upper-body gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Frazier, an aspiring rapper known by his stage name Mac Rap, also pursued boxing and is remembered by family and friends as kind-hearted and quick to smile.
He had been visiting his biological father’s house the night he was killed. Authorities say the shooting grew out of a chance encounter and an argument with a 17-year-old male; investigators reported no prior relationship between the two. A juvenile was arrested in connection with the killing on October 11, 2023, and made an initial juvenile court appearance on October 16, 2023; the court was told he could face life if tried as an adult or up to seven years in juvenile hall if prosecuted as a juvenile. Family members continue to attend proceedings and seek accountability.
