On February 26, 2023, at about 6:22 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting at a residence in the 38000 block of Via Majorca in La Cresta, near Murrieta. They found 35-year-old Andrew Cisneros with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene after life-saving efforts by deputies and paramedics.

Investigators say at least two suspects fled in an unknown vehicle after the incident and that the suspects allegedly broke into Cisneros’ residence, leading to a confrontation in which Cisneros was shot. In early March 2023, four people were arrested and later charged with first-degree murder, robbery and burglary, with special-circumstance allegations for murder during a burglary and robbery: Jose Daniel Aguilar (March 5), Enrique Rojas Jr. and Richard Charlie Smith (both March 10), and Manuel Luna Rico (March 13). All were held without bail pending arraignment.

The relationship between Cisneros and the suspects and the motive have not been disclosed. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
