David Adams, 34, was shot on the evening of February 2, 2023, near the 4800 block of Lincoln Boulevard in Oroville, California. Deputies from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office found him with gunshot wounds at about 8 p.m.; he was taken to a local hospital and died shortly after arrival. The Sheriff’s Office opened an active investigation but has not publicly identified any suspects or made arrests.

In the weeks before the killing, Adams had contact with law enforcement: on January 15, 2023, he was arrested in Butte County for a felony parole violation, an incident reported by Local Crime News that listed his age then as 36. The shooting drew attention in local news and social media, and residents say the lack of leads has left the community concerned.
