On January 16, 2023, at about 3:30 a.m., six members of one Goshen family were executed in their home in what authorities described as a cartel-style mass shooting. Victims named by investigators include 72-year-old Rosa Parraz, 52-year-old Eladio Parraz Jr., 50-year-old Jennifer Analla, 19-year-old Marcos Parraz, 16-year-old Alissa Parraz, and Alissa’s 10-month-old son, Nycholas.

Surveillance footage showed Alissa attempting to flee the residence with her infant, placing the child over a fence and then trying to climb over herself; both were shot and killed outside the home. A week earlier, a search warrant at the Parraz residence had uncovered drugs, ammunition, and weapons and led to the arrest and release on bail of a family member.

Federal and local investigators later carried out Operation Nightmare, arresting 35-year-old Angel Uriarte and 25-year-old Noah Beard, both identified as gang members and charged with six counts of murder. Uriarte was wounded in a shootout with federal agents during his apprehension and taken into custody. Officials have linked the massacre to gang affiliations and rivalries.
