Marco Antonio Viera, 21, was found fatally shot in the driver’s seat of his black Toyota on October 19, 2024, at about midnight at the intersection of Lomas Del Sur Boulevard and South Ejido Avenue in south Laredo, Texas. His death was listed as the city’s fifth homicide of the year.

The Laredo Police Department conducted an intensive investigation and interviewed multiple persons of interest and eyewitnesses. By October 28, four people had been arrested in connection with Viera’s death: 17-year-old Angel Humberto Amaro, 20-year-olds Humberto Campos and Ruben Cavazos, and a 16-year-old juvenile. All were charged with first-degree murder; the adults were booked into the Webb County Jail and the juvenile was taken to the Webb County Youth Village.

On October 31 a fifth suspect, 19-year-old Luis Alhnaim Martinez, was arrested in San Antonio by a task force involving Laredo and San Antonio U.S. Marshals and charged with first-degree murder; the 49th District Court set bond at $100,000. The department asks anyone with additional information to come forward.
