Two men were found shot to death after a break-in at a garage apartment in Port Arthur in the early hours of July 4, 2024. Officers arrived about 1:30 a.m. after a woman called to report the break-in. One victim was at the base of the stairs and the other inside the apartment; both had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The deceased were identified as 22-year-old Alfred Glenn Scott Jr. of Port Arthur and 24-year-old Corneileous Jarod Jones of Cypress.

Neither Scott nor Jones lived at the garage apartment; investigators described them as possible short-term acquaintances of the tenant. The tenant was interviewed and several persons of interest were identified, and police asked nearby residents to check security footage from midnight to 2 a.m. on July 4.
