Christopher Lee Escobar, 25, was killed in a shooting on June 14, 2024, near Linden, Texas. He was riding in the backseat of a white Ford pickup on U.S. Highway 59 when a dispute inside the vehicle escalated after one occupant produced a firearm. A struggle for the weapon led to multiple shots; Escobar was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers were wounded — one treated and released, the other in stable condition — and the driver was not physically harmed.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation and has not announced any arrests or publicly identified the other occupants. Escobar was born April 2, 1999, in Edinburg, Texas, and is survived by his mother, son, brothers and other relatives; funeral services were held in Elsa, Texas. Few details have been released about what led to the dispute inside the truck. If anyone has information about the shooting on U.S. Highway 59, please contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
