Arminda Godina Gonzales, 30, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds after officers from the Schertz Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 11600 block of Voges Pass on the night of May 10, 2024, at about 11:12 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene and the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide due to gunshot wounds.

A male who was at the scene was detained for questioning and told officers he shot Gonzales in self-defense. The Schertz Police Department, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, is investigating to determine the circumstances and to assess the self-defense claim. No formal charges have been announced and the detained individual’s identity has not been released; investigators will forward findings to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office for possible charging decisions.

Gonzales is survived by her mother, Rita Godina, her children Noemi Esperanza Luna, Noel Israel Luna Jr. and Nehemiah Tomas Luna, their father and other relatives; her mother has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses. Does anyone in the area have information about the shooting or saw activity on Voges Pass that night?
