On April 7, 2024, 29-year-old Oran O’Lee Trahan of Beaumont, Texas, was fatally shot after an attack while sitting in his black Chrysler 300 at the old fairgrounds parking lot on Gulf Street. Three of his young children, ages 3, 2, and 1, were in the back seat at the time. Trahan drove to The Place convenience store at 1610 Interstate 10 East, told witnesses he had been shot near The Regent apartments, then collapsed. He was taken to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital and died later that morning.

Trahan was a father of ten; his eldest daughter had turned 13 three days before his death. Family members describe him as the anchor of their family who brought people together. A GoFundMe was set up to support his children and funeral costs because he did not have life insurance. No arrests have been announced and the Beaumont Police Department is investigating. Tips can be given to the department or through Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers; anonymity and possible cash rewards are offered.

If anyone knew Oran Trahan or has information about what happened near The Regent apartments, please contact Beaumont police or Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers.
