On April 6, 2024, at about 2:30 a.m., Garland officers responded to a weapons disturbance in the 4200 block of Duck Creek Drive and found 31-year-old MarQuicha LaShun Mingo of Dallas suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police say the confrontation began with a disturbance in Dallas involving multiple people and escalated into a physical altercation in the Garland apartment parking lot; at least two firearms were fired. A second adult male suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
On April 12, 2024, Garland police arrested 32-year-old Christopher Polk of Dallas and charged him with murder in connection with Mingo’s death; he was booked into the Dallas County Jail with bond set at $1 million. The Garland Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Does anyone have information about the events that led to the disturbance or the people involved?
