On December 11, 2023, at about 8 p.m., 40-year-old Angela Lauren Davidson was struck by gunfire while visiting her mother’s residence at Heatherbrook Apartments in Port Arthur, Texas. Witnesses reported multiple shots from Heatherbrook Park; bullets penetrated a wooden privacy fence that separates the park from the apartment complex. Davidson was taken to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital and pronounced dead.

Port Arthur Police detectives traced the bullet trajectories to Heatherbrook Park, recovered shell casings, and reviewed surveillance footage that linked a silver 2007 Nissan Maxima to the incident. Video showed 21-year-old Port Arthur resident Dyllion Garner driving that vehicle to the park shortly before the shooting and returning seconds after. Garner told officers he had gone to the park to discharge a firearm and claimed he fired into the ground. A firearm recovered from his apartment was test-fired and showed similarities to the casings found at the scene; Garner was arrested February 15, 2024, and charged with manslaughter with bond set at $100,000.

Nineteen-year-old Port Arthur resident Lexie Bennett was arrested on hindering apprehension charges for allegedly helping Garner evade police; she later pleaded guilty and received a three-year probated sentence and a $500 fine, with no contact ordered between her and Garner except regarding their child.

Did anyone in Port Arthur see the silver 2007 Nissan Maxima near Heatherbrook Park that evening or have information about what happened there?
