Seventeen-year-old Hannah Layton was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a residence on Crestwood Drive in Richmond, Texas, on November 25, 2023. Authorities say she was alone in the house with a 16-year-old male who identified himself as a friend; he remained at the scene, called emergency services, and was later arrested and charged with Hannah’s murder. The teen’s name has not been released because he is a minor, and he is being held at the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center.

Hannah’s mother, Patricia Layton, said Hannah was shot in the back of the head and died instantly. Patricia said she did not know the 16-year-old and expressed concern about some of Hannah’s acquaintances, calling them wild. The motive has not been released and the investigation is active. A GoFundMe and a December 2, 2023 benefit in Rosenberg were organized to help cover funeral expenses.

Does anyone in Richmond who knew Hannah or her circle have information that could help the Richmond Police Department’s investigation?
