I’ve been following the discussions about Chente’s tragic death at Cole's Flea Market, and my heart just goes out to his family. What really caught my attention today was the role of the community in banding together to support them during such a dark time. The GoFundMe campaign is truly a testament to how people can rally around a family in need, but it’s also been incredibly touching to hear that Governor Abbott stepped in with a reward to help bring those responsible to justice. It’s a small measure of relief to see both grassroots support and official efforts working hand-in-hand. I can’t imagine what Chente’s family is going through, especially with his grandparents traveling all the way from Mexico to be with their loved ones. It’s good to see that they were given permission to attend the funeral, which must be a huge comfort to them. I hope everyone in the community keeps up the pressure for answers—not just for justice, but to hopefully prevent something like this from happening again. If there’s anything good that can come from this, let it be a stronger community with fewer tragedies in the future.
