On October 28, 2023, 26-year-old Deandre Fezell was shot and killed during a party in the back room of a business in the 700 block of N. Stateline Avenue in Texarkana, Texas. A physical altercation reportedly began between Fezell and 26-year-old Devon Hayden over a dice game; the confrontation escalated when Hayden allegedly produced a pistol and shot Fezell, who died at the scene.
The violence continued when 21-year-old Breoskii Warren allegedly retrieved a rifle and began firing, striking multiple people. Two other victims, 30-year-old Alqadis Williams and 22-year-old Jayla Hampton, later died at a local hospital; three additional attendees sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Hayden was arrested and charged with Fezell’s murder. Warren initially evaded capture but turned himself in on November 1, 2023; he faces two counts of murder and an aggravated-assault-with-a-deadly-weapon charge for wounding Hayden. Both are held in the Bowie County jail — Hayden with bond set at $3 million and Warren at $6.25 million — and the cases are assigned to 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison.
What can anyone who was at that party or who knew Deandre contribute to help clarify how the fight began and escalated?
