On the evening of July 30, 2023, in Humble, Texas, 22-year-old Javier Alvarado was shot and killed during a confrontation about driving behavior around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Pablo Trail and Viscaro Lane. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Alvarado approached a vehicle of several occupants to complain about their driving. He exited his own vehicle and allegedly pointed a handgun at the other car’s occupants. One person in that vehicle then produced a firearm and shot Alvarado in the face.

The shooter left the scene and later contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found Alvarado deceased and recovered his handgun. Witness statements reportedly corroborated the shooter’s account, the shooter cooperated with investigators, and no charges had been filed at that time; the matter was to be presented to a grand jury. The shooter’s name has not been made public and no arrests have been announced.
