Kimberly Jayne Alexander, 61, was found dead in her White Oak, Texas, home on July 10, 2023, having suffered two gunshot wounds to the head. Her son discovered the body and officers reported no sign of forced entry at the residence.

Investigators quickly focused on her husband, James Michael Alexander, 63 at the time. Two days earlier he had been in a car crash at Highway 80 and Highway 42. Officers found a .45 caliber handgun and a 9 mm handgun in and around his vehicle. At the hospital where he was treated for injuries from the collision, a warrant was obtained to search clothing left there; two empty shell casings were found in his pants pocket that matched casings recovered from the car, and the .45 was missing two rounds from its magazine. James Alexander was arrested on July 12, 2023, in Longview and charged with Kimberly’s murder.
