Jeremy David Vick, 35, was shot on July 4, 2023, in the Ore City/Lazy Lakes area of Harrison County, Texas. Deputies found him shortly after 12:35 a.m.; he was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Authorities identified 36-year-old Kristopher Dylan Ratcliff as a suspect. On July 21, 2023, a warrant charging first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was issued for Ratcliff. He was later located and apprehended in Bangor, Maine, by U.S. Marshals and is awaiting extradition to Texas.

Vick, born August 28, 1988, in Longview, Texas, was remembered by family as generous, fond of animals, and skilled at mechanical work; he enjoyed fishing and drawing. Funeral services were held July 12, 2023, at Peace Fellowship in Diana, Texas.
