On June 13, 2023, at about 12:40 a.m., officers responding to a welfare check near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Carolina Street in Wichita Falls found 54-year-old Martin Servantes dead in the grass. He had suffered a fatal gunshot wound and the death was classified as a homicide. A passerby discovered the body and alerted authorities.
Wichita Falls Police investigated the killing but by December 28, 2023 no suspects had been identified and no arrests were made; the department continues to seek tips from the public. Servantes was listed as a 5 feet 1 inch, 136-pound male with brown hair and brown eyes and had been arrested for public intoxication on April 11, 2023 in Wichita County.
The city recorded seven murders in 2023, down from 18 in 2022, and Servantes’ killing remains one of two unsolved homicides from that year. If anyone has information about Martin Servantes or the events around June 13, 2023, contact Wichita Falls Police.?
