On April 22, 2023, at about 4:30 a.m., officers in Jacksonville, Texas, found two men fatally shot in the 1000 block of Clemons Drive. Victims were identified as 37-year-old Tony B. McCuin of Bullard and 35-year-old Coray R. McCuin of Jacksonville.

Later that evening a Jacksonville resident, 29-year-old Dexter Lynn Davis, was arrested on an unrelated charge; investigators subsequently charged Davis with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Tony and Coray McCuin. Prosecutors announced in May 2023 that they would not seek the death penalty; no trial date had been set as of the last reported court scheduling. The Jacksonville Police Department, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, continues to investigate the circumstances and has asked anyone with information to contact Sergeant Hollis at the Jacksonville Police Department.
