Samuel Banks, 47, was fatally shot on February 20, 2023, at about 6:20 p.m. while visiting his wife at her workplace, a restaurant in the 14000 block of Homestead Road in northeast Harris County, Texas. An argument occurred between Banks and two men; during the altercation one of the men produced a handgun and shot Banks. He was taken to Kingwood Hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators identified the shooter as 19-year-old Justin Ware, who was arrested on February 27, 2023, and charged with murder. The other man involved was described as a short, heavy-set Black man; no name or capture status for that individual has been released. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and is seeking information.
