On February 5, 2023, at about 12:30 a.m., a vehicle crashed into the Peachtree Square Apartments in the 4600 block of Saturn Road in Garland and caught fire. First responders found two people inside with gunshot wounds; both were taken to a hospital. Twenty-two-year-old Quincy Lee Branch of Dallas was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 19-year-old male from Fort Worth survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Garland police identified two juvenile suspects from Dallas, ages 14 and 15. Detectives filed murder charges against the 14-year-old on March 1, 2023; the 15-year-old was later arrested and also charged with murder. Both juveniles were held at the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center and their names were withheld because of their ages. Authorities did not release a motive or describe the relationship between victims and suspects, and investigators were seeking public tips.

If anyone witnessed the shooting, the crash, or the person seen leaving the vehicle and fleeing, please share what was seen with Garland police.
