On January 4, 2023, at about 1:36 a.m., Rowlett Police responded to a shooting at a residence in the 2600 block of Primrose Lane and found 22-year-old Jenson James Phipps with multiple gunshot wounds. Phipps was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Authorities arrested 21-year-old Anthony Tavarez during the investigation; while in custody Tavarez confessed to shooting Phipps and was charged with murder.
His bond was set at $250,000 when he appeared in court on January 5, 2023. Phipps, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, owned J Quality Cabinets, worked as a self-taught cabinet installer, and was remembered as a happy, outgoing person and a devoted father to his son, Jace. The shooting’s motive was not detailed.
Does anyone have information about Phipps, his work, or the night of January 4, 2023?
