A domestic-style dispute in Enterprise, Alabama, turned fatal on Monday, November 18, 2024. According to investigators, 59-year-old Patrick John Cerqua attacked another man with a metal pipe in the 800 block of County Road 266, striking the man in the head. The man being attacked then produced a firearm and fired one shot, striking Cerqua in the pelvic area.

Responders arrived about 11:05 a.m. and found both men injured. The Coffee County Coroner pronounced Cerqua dead at the scene; the other man was treated for head injuries and is expected to recover. The Enterprise Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating and has said it is not seeking additional suspects and believes there is no further threat to public safety. No charges had been filed against the shooter as of late November 2024.
