Dayshawn Martez Smith, 24, was found unresponsive in the front yard of a residence near West Cook Street and Murphy Avenue in El Dorado, Arkansas. Officers responding on the afternoon of December 10, 2024, discovered he had sustained at least one gunshot wound; investigators believe the fatal shooting likely occurred the previous evening and that Smith collapsed in the yard after attempting to flee his attacker or attackers.

Smith, a graduate of El Dorado High School and South Arkansas Community College with a welding certificate, was remembered by family as kind and charismatic and was a father to a young daughter, Alainee Milan Smith. Two El Dorado teenagers, Lamar Jones, 17, and Jyshun Ellis, 15, were taken into custody and charged as adults; initial capital murder charges were later reduced to first-degree murder, and bond was set at $1 million each on December 13, 2024. Evidence from the scene has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for analysis.

Did anyone in the El Dorado area see or hear anything on the night of December 9 that could help explain what happened to Dayshawn Smith?
