I’ve been following the tragedy that happened on Christmas night in Palatka, and my heart goes out to Dorrion McKinnon’s family and friends. As we learn more, I'm particularly struck by the role the initial gathering in St. Johns County might have played in this. It’s chilling to think that a party, which is usually a time for joy and celebration, could somehow end in such devastation. From what I've read, a lot of people moved the party to Palatka after it was shut down. It makes me wonder how things escalated so quickly and if there were warning signs that someone might have anticipated. If there were so many people there, surely someone saw something? I sincerely hope that investigators can piece together what actually happened and that anyone with information comes forward. No family should have to bury their child, especially not during the holidays. If you were there, or know someone who was, please speak up. It could make all the difference in achieving justice and preventing further violence. Stay safe, everyone.
