Keshon Tamario Knolton, 26, was killed in a shooting in the early morning hours of December 8, 2024, at Green Meadows apartments on Log Cabin Drive in Macon. Deputies were called about 1:51 a.m. and found Knolton unresponsive with a gunshot wound; he did not survive. A 17-year-old boy was also wounded in the same incident and taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Investigators moved quickly in the days that followed. On December 13, 2024, authorities arrested 24-year-old James Louis Chappell of Byron and charged him with murder in connection with Knolton’s death. On December 20, 2024, 17-year-old Donathan Latrell Hill of Fort Valley was arrested after search and arrest warrants were executed in Columbus; Hill, who had been injured in the December 8 shooting, was charged with felony murder and held without bond. Reports at the time described the investigation as ongoing and identified both Chappell and Hill as arrested suspects.
