Alvin J. Parker, 42, of Champaign was fatally shot on December 10, 2024 near Dobbins and Roland Drives in northwest Champaign. Emergency responders discovered Parker deceased at the scene and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity and cause of death.

Parker’s shooting came within about 25 hours of a separate fatal shooting in southwest Champaign on December 9, 2024 that killed 21-year-old Heaven Hope of Bloomington; both victims were from Bloomington. As of December 19, 2024 no arrests or suspects have been publicly reported in Parker’s death and authorities have released no further details.

Anyone who was in northwest Champaign near Dobbins and Roland Drives on December 10, or who has information about either shooting, is asked to contact the Champaign Police Department.
