On the evening of November 20, 2024, a domestic argument in West Plains, Missouri, escalated into a fatal shooting that left 48-year-old John Lee Wilson Sr. dead. Officers in the Jackson Street area heard gunfire about 9:20 p.m., and a nearby resident in the 1200 block of Columbus Drive reported a man shot and lying on their porch. Responding officers found Wilson unresponsive on the neighbor’s porch with multiple gunshot wounds; he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined the violence began at the couple’s home across the street. Police identified 49-year-old Brandy Gale Wilson as the primary suspect. She allegedly told detectives the couple had been arguing, a scuffle occurred, she retrieved a pistol from a nightstand and shot her husband. She reportedly followed him across the street and fired again as he stood on the porch until he fell. She was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree domestic assault resulting in serious physical injury, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and four counts of armed criminal action, and held on $100,000 bond. She also made statements that she believed her husband had hired people to kill her and that she heard snipers outside the home; those claims were recorded in investigators’ reports.

Does anyone in West Plains have information about the events that evening or knew John and Brandy Wilson?
