Robert Rogers, 51, was fatally shot late on Friday, December 20, 2024, after an altercation at a red light near Lakeview and Merselis Avenues in Clifton, New Jersey. Rogers, a resident of Elmwood Park and formerly of Clifton, had been out shopping with his wife days before Christmas. Police say he exited his Jeep and approached a gray Ford F-150; following a verbal exchange with the pickup’s driver he was shot in the chest and later died at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center.

Authorities arrested 67-year-old Angel Pacheco of Clifton at the scene and charged him with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Prosecutors are seeking pre-trial detention and the investigation remains active. Rogers, known to some as Bobby, was a husband, father of five and grandfather of four who worked for many years as a truck driver in Elizabeth and is survived by his wife and three sisters.
