On December 18, 2024, George Yzquierdo, a 64-year-old Hispanic/Latino man, was found dead in his Los Lunas home from a gunshot wound to the head. Deputies from the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office recovered Yzquierdo’s body after responding to a distress call that day.

Responding officers located 61-year-old John Miramontes nearby with multiple gunshot wounds. Miramontes was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he later died. He told investigators that a woman named Amy had shot him and his friend George at a nearby residence. A search of Yzquierdo’s home turned up 41-year-old Amy Pendleton hiding in a bathroom; she was arrested without incident and booked into the Valencia County Detention Center. Pendleton was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and was on probation at the time of the alleged shootings.

The motive has not been released. Does anyone in the Los Lunas area have information about Yzquierdo, Miramontes, or Pendleton that could help clarify what happened?
