William Alex Breeden III, 33, was fatally shot on December 21, 2024, at about 6:45 p.m. at the Clinton Inn, 1609 U.S. 401 South in Laurinburg. Breeden had told family he was stepping out to get something from a store; after he left his room they heard gunshots. He returned saying he had been shot and was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where he died.
Laurinburg Police arrested 18-year-old Jeremiah Da’Mon Locklear of Pembroke and charged him with first-degree murder, common law robbery, discharging a firearm within city limits, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Locklear is being held without bond at the Scotland County Jail. Authorities have not released any information about a relationship between Breeden and Locklear or a possible motive. The investigation is active; anyone with information is asked to contact the Laurinburg Police Department Investigative Division at 910-276-3211 or Scotland Crimestoppers.
Did anyone in the Laurinburg or Wagram area see activity near the Clinton Inn that evening or know anything that could help investigators?
