David Reis Perry, 51, was found dead inside a North Charleston warehouse on December 18, 2024, one week before his planned wedding. His fiancée had reported him missing earlier that day, prompting a welfare check at Carolina Sound Communications, the family business he co-owned with his older brother, Charles Gordon Perry. Authorities found David had been fatally shot and also suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
Investigators focused on Charles, 55, after officers saw what appeared to be red spots on his shoes and pants when he arrived at the scene. A backpack found near the warehouse contained a firearm Charles admitted owning but said he had not seen for a couple of days. Two hours of warehouse security footage were missing, and a handwritten note listing tasks such as burn clothes, switch off security footage, and hide a gun was identified by an employee as matching Charles’s handwriting. Prosecutors presented the note at a bond hearing; Charles was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and was denied bond.
David’s emails—described in court as including financial discussions and messages from his fiancée—were reportedly being mirrored, and the fiancée told the court Charles opposed her involvement in the business. No definitive motive has been publicly declared. Does anyone have information about David, Charles, or Carolina Sound Communications that could help the investigation?
